I'm not sure how old Hellen would be in this picture but the children look like they might be around 10 years old and that would date it around 1937. So this is before WWII and the winter war in 1939 when the russians invaded eastern Finland and Hellen was very fortunate to survive. Mum told me a story of how her mother would get very upset and annoyed with a local family who would walk across her garden to get to the nearby village, mum added that whole little domestic dispute was solved forever when the russians came.
